Diary of Orrin Brown—Nov 11, 1864

Lincoln Memorial at Night

Diary of Orrin Brown, Atlanta, Georgia

Friday–Nov. 11th

Went to work to day and carried boards from the shanties where we stayed last night built us a comfortable tent. There is 5 large fires in the City tonight. It is settled fact that this City is doomed to burn and that before many days too. It was verry cool last night but the day has been clear and warm.

On this day that many years later became Veterans’ Day, please pause and remember the duty and service of all Veterans in America’s wartime and at peace.
